These are THE WORLDS BEST ICE CUBE TRAYS!! WHY did I use the crappy all plastic ones for so long?!?! Getting ice out of these is a DREAM! And they are shaped so cute. (These are the sorts of things that excite you when you reach a certain age :P) I don't think you really need to use the covers but they do help for stacking the trays. I love that they are covered so less likely to pick up random fridge odor. I live the silicone on the bottom of each cube. I run the still covered tray under warm water then remove the lid. Then I hold over a bowl or baggie and gently push each one out.
