Description

Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling author Laurell K. Hamilton returns with another addictive adventure featuring vampire-hunting heroine Anita Blake, to thrill fans of Charlaine Harris and Anne Rice. My name is Anita Blake and I have the highest kill count of any vampire executioner in the country. I''m a U.S. Marshal who can raise zombies with the best of them. But ever since master vampire Jean-Claude and I went public with our engagement, all I am to anyone and everyone is Jean-Claude''s fiancée.It''s wreaking havoc with my reputation as a hard ass - to some extent. Luckily, in professional circles, I''m still the go-to expert for zombie issues. And right now, the FBI is having one hell of a zombie issue.Someone is producing zombie porn. I''ve seen my share of freaky undead fetishes, so this shouldn''t bother me. But the women being victimised aren''t just mindless, rotting corpses. Their souls are trapped behind their eyes, signalling voodoo of the blackest kind. It''s the sort of case that can leave a mark on a person. And my own soul may not survive unscathed . . .

There will probably be some Spoilers***. First of all, Laurell K. Hamilton has been my favorite author when it comes to the paranormal or preternatural since the beginning. She has so much going on that I never get bored reading her books. A lot of her readers don't like all the relationship angst and everything that goes on with her men, however, to me that's the best part. I love the shifter men and the vampires who are in sexual relationships with her. I really wish that she didn't add the women, but it's fantasy and I find the whole thing very enjoyable to read. My personal guilty pleasure. :) In this book everybody is there and then some. I never much cared for the police stuff because I can read about humans in other books, although I do love Edward(not in this book) and Zebrowski. The zombie raising was exciting and I really liked Thomas James Warrington, her two hundred year old zombie that she raised for the historical society. He was so precious and I actually thought that it was funny when they took him to Denny's. :D I felt so bad for him when they had to basically kill him yet again. Anita had Nicky and Domino with her the night she burried him the second time, because he was still aware the first time and claiming to be painfully ravenous when the ground sucked him back up. Poor little fella. They need to use Google for their questions and allow the poor zombies to rest in peace (or pieces as the case may be). There's even ghouls underground in the cemetery that like to nibble on the dead. I enjoyed that part immensely also. Afterwards Nicky and Domino get into a fight over Domino thinking that Anita cared more for Nicky (lion Rex). This was where Anita somewhat bothered me because she was so quick to dismiss Domino out of their relationship. Naturally he really cared for her but to her it was like "one tiger down." (a few more to go. That may not be it exactly but that was her thought.) I love Nicky and all of her men really. She's always on the go. She never seems to have down time where they just watch a movie (not about zombies), or chill. Narcissis is another very intriguing character for so many reasons. Although he really does have issues. It was also unique to have Micah shift into a tiger along with some of the others turning into other animals. That was awesome to me. I'd like to know about that whole concept of the story. Then there's the whole zombies being raised with their souls intact thing going on. They're being forced to make porn films and nobody knows who the necromancer is who's causing all of the zombie hell. That will take awhile, but even that was extraordinary. Basically I was happy to see that most of her men were back in the story since that was my favorite part. I don't know how she does it, but more power to her. I found this book to be totally spooky yet lots of fun. :)
