Pros:-good weight and feel-gunmetal color is very attractive and modern-i like the shape (i've bought multiple sets already)Cons:-expensive af-QC problems (notches in the coating on the sides of the fork likely due to the machinery they use, notches and scratches in the coating likely due to lack of packaging) (i had to return a few sets due to this being a really bad issue, i can forgive really small imperfections)-packaged in thin plastic and a plain white cardboard box instead of nicer packaging (i was hoping the box would be somewhat nice)I purchased this thinking the price point had to be for four place settings. I was wrong. I'd have happily paid the price for four complete sets. But for one? No way. Don't get me wrong, this flatware is spectacular. But considering my wife insists on having 8 sets of flatware (for family gatherings and such), there's NO WAY I'm dropping nearly $1,600 for spoons, forks, and knives.Again, spectacular flatware. Ridiculous price.First this flatware is gorgeous. And it is expensive. But I justified the price by Merpa's reputation for having "colored" flatware that was of such a high quality you can safely clean them in the dishwasher. I've had the flatware (and serveware) for around 5 months and it is heavily discolored. I've been in contact with the manufacturer and they've advised me to use stainless steel polish. Hopefully that works because they look awful now, but I did not expect to have to polish this flatware. Very disappointing.Gorgeous!These flatware go great with my kitchen theme. Considering the Mepra name and the Italian quality, these are worth the investment as they should last a lifetime.Do yourself a favor: fly to Italy and visit for a week. This flatware was shipped wrapped in a black cloth ribboned holder. It is expensive for one 5 piece set of flatware, so the price set the bar. I was disappointed.PACKAGING:Nice cloth holder with 5 slots and a ribbon fastener in a box.FLATWARE ITSELF:The black finish is nicely done. Not flat black but a burnished high quality black. No complaints there. I have seen some drops get left by the dishwasher, which is a bit more noticeable on the black. A quick wipe cleans them off same as it would on the silver color, though it’s more noticeable on the black. I noticed when the flatware was cold, condensation on it was also quite visible.The grip is what you see in the pictures. A slightly flat oval cylinder. They are flattish but not wide and this does make them a bit harder to hold. Then there is the size. Like the Mepra Forma the spoons are smaller, but not as teardrop shaped, they are more round. The salad fork and teaspoon seem positively child sized. A man or woman with a large hand might struggle with the size of both of these.Both spoons are smaller than the average restaurant flatware. I know people who like tablespoons for cereal that these spoons would disappoint. Though the smaller teaspoon would complement a delicate china set, though unless it is really modern this style would not match.This knife handle is a flattish long cylinder. It turns fairly easy in your hand and for that reason is a bit harder to use.USAGE:The knife serrations did a nice job cutting meat, but the cylindrical shape without enough flatness made it tricky at times. The grip is parallel with the blade which is common, but the slim flatness added little to the grip. I have no issue with either spoon, or the tablefork, but the salad fork gave me the impression of an over small plastic fork. Hardly the impression you want to give for price elegant flatware.I must admit that this is some of the most “unusual” flatware I’ve ever come across. If you didn’t know better, you might think that it’s either plastic. . . because of it’s glossy look and plastic feel. . . or. . that’s it’s very badly tarnished silver. Indeed it’s stainless steel, coated in titanium PVD.It shows that the flatware is dishwasher safe. I would be very careful about using any sort of “scrubber” (especially a metal scrubber) with this flatware. I think it would great effect the high-gloss look.The dinner knife has a very long handle. The total length is 9”, and it has a serrated edge. Because of the high-gloss, the blade shows fingerprints. That’s something you’ll need to be aware of when entertaining. The dinner fork is also quite long at 8”.This is quite an expensive pattern as compared to other Mepra flatware. It can certainly work with the right china, but I don’t think that I would be using this flatware on a daily basis.Me gusto la calidad y detalle en su elaboración.Ottima pentola, molto leggera e maneggevole.
