See additional notes below after 6 months of use:Original review: We bought the 12-cup Capresso coffee maker because it is one of the very few units that would fit under the cabinets above our kitchen counter. And it was one of the least expensive. But we were very happy to discover that it is a really good drip coffee maker, maybe the best we've ever had. It's lightweight, and feels almost flimsy, but it works perfectly, and makes noticeably better tasting coffee than our old coffee makers. (Using our usual beans and grinder.) I think it may have something to do with the temperature of the brewing water and the keep-warm plate. The Capresso looks good and with its compact dimensions, we've gained a little more counter space in small kitchen.Follow-up: After 6 months of daily use, the Capresso SG-200, one day failed to make more than a few ounces of coffee. The unit made boiling and "chuffing" noises, steam came out of the top, and only a few drops of coffee dripped slowly into the carafe at a time. We thought the unit was a goner. Disappointing. But before we trashed it, I thought I would try running a well-known descaling solution through it. Following the directions, and running the descaler twice resulted in only a slight improvement. The coffee maker would still make lots of noise and steam, but not a lot of coffee (filling it for 12 cups produced about 6 cups of coffee - and that took about an hour.) After a few days of this, we gave up on the pot, and started using an old small Melitta drip pot and a Bodum French press. But we still liked the Capresso - when it worked properly - well enough to order another one from Amazon. Besides, it was the only coffee maker that fit under our kitchen cabinet. The day before the new coffee maker was due to be delivered, my wife filled the old one with water and coffee, and pressed the brew button -- amazingly, it behaved perfectly, as good as new. Back from its near-death experience, it has been working just fine for several days. In the mean time, the new one we ordered arrived, and we decided to keep it as a back-up, just in case the old one has a relapse.
