This item works and works well, once you do your own research and dig around until you find the proper Windows app to connect the item to your computer--the one in the user guide is wrong, the one you download from their website that is supposed to help you get the right one doesn't work---so Amazon reviews was the final answer, where another frustrated user posted the following helpful information: the one you want is Dymo label software version 8.7.3. The one other complaint is that you can't adjust the amount of label tape at the beginning and end of each label...it wastes about 1/2 inch of tape every time you print. The response here from the manufacturer is that it can't be adjusted because the print head needs that time to warm up and cool down. I use this label maker to print labels for plants (the little plastic thing that sticks in the soil and tells you what the plant type is) and I have to trim each of these labels to fit, unless the plant has a very short name. Luckily the less expensive off-brand compatible tape works just as well as the official Dymo tape, so the waste of money is greatly reduced by switching.
