My goal has been to hydrate more often, but I dislike plain water. However, I love seltzer. It's attractive enough to leave out on the counter. It was easy to unpack and set up. Be gentle, it is mostly plastic. My purchase came with 3 bottles (1 large and 1 small). I don't plan on purchasing flavors since a couple of lemons or a splash of juice after I've made seltzer works for me. PS, beware of psuedo science garbage that carbonation leaches minerals from your body. That's now how science works. It's water and CO2 gas. The worst thing that can happen to you is that you fart more.I bought my 1st Soda Stream about 10 years ago. I used it several times a day, and I loved it. I just purchased the NEW model and it is even better. Quiet and smooth. Easy to tap onto, and easier to temove. Did I mention that it is way quiet. I also find the casing attractive. Looks nice in my new kitchen.DAY 22 UPDATE: Purchased C02 at Target and the unit is working fine. Seems the o-ring requires the right amount of pressure to seal properly. DAY 21 UPDATE: Seems to have plenty of gas. No more fizzy water. Liter bottle to unit sealing O-ring leaks. Water sprays out. O-ring is not serviceable. Not Amazon returnable due to gas. Sodastream Email Support says that the rubber o-ring is not replaceable. Waiting for a new gas cartridge to try out. Literature says it has a 2 year warranty so might have to get a replacement unit. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Get the smaller 1/2 L bottles to save on C02 because the fizz gets lost quickly. Read my other caveats... Sodastream Fizzy works well to carbonate water but there are several caveats. First, the fizz gets lost quickly. You'll notice it because as you get towards the bottom of the bottle or glass there doesn't seem to be as much fizz as there was when you first took a swig. Don't try to carbonate a "less than filled to the line" bottle either because you'll waste even more CO2 by trying. After reading this you'll probably do it anyway but it just doesn't work. Second caveat is to carbonate water that is already ice cold. Cold refrigerated water is good or fill a container with ice, put water in it, and then transfer the cold water to the bottle. Carbonated tap water or not that cold water will melt the ice and your fizz will be diluted and go away even quicker. Third and last caveat is to use clean filtered water or water with no chlorine. I hate the taste of chlorinated water and carbonizing it increases the nasty chlorine taste. Use a filter or be a filter. Any carbon filter works to removes chlorine. Change the carbon filter as recommended by the manufacturer. We use the Culligan RC-EZ-1 at home and it works. After reading some of the bad reviews, I figured that I should offer my thoughts and caveats to make owning a SodaStream a bit more enjoyable. Update: Just noticed that my new unit probably has a defective or the wrong size O-ring seal that suppose to prevent the C02 gas from escaping when pressing the button. I can feel side to side movement at the seal when the bottle is not latched. I will contact customer support and give an update later. Another reviewer mentioned this issue and the difference between this new design and the better old design. TIPS: (1) Back cover removes easily by pulling the top straight back then go up. (2) You can store the C02 canister cap and the instruction sheet inside the back cover. (3) 5 two second bursts does give the best fizz to the last drop on the 1/2 L bottle. (4) Our ice maker makes ice that fits through the bottle opening. Filling the bottle half way to the fill line and the rest with filtered water easily makes cold water. A few remaining ice cubes does not affect carbonating the water. DAY 01 CUSTOMER SUPPORT UPDATE: Called support and they had me run through the carbonation process with 5 two second bursts of C02. I did not notice any sound of C02 leaking with that much pressure so everything seems fine. Loving it so far.It gets the job done. Maybe I'm not doing it rightFirst off, it's a great product no doubt. However, the amount to put in to fizz-ing it up needs to be addressed. Yes, you pump 3-4 times but make sure you pump it for a few seconds (up to 2 seconds at least) each time. Also when you do it, press it down hard but not too hard. Hard enough to shoot in CO2 into the water. I personally do it at least 5 times. Also make sure that the CO2 canister is screwed in but not too tight. Tight enough to hold in so you can get the full carbonation experience for your drinking enjoyment. Other than that it's great. I bought the diet fountain pack from their official website, just to try out different flavors. They all taste similar to the Shasta drinks which is fine by me. As long as I got my fizz-y fix lol. Also bought Bubly syrups, mango and cherry. Sadly the cherry box was supposed to be three different flavors but gave me the wrong one, which is all cherry flavored but oh well. Probably suggest ordering from their official website for other interesting flavors or just buy some near your store that sells them. This is a good investment for carbonation beverage lovers. Happy to put mine for a long time.Oh my god I’ve been waiting a whole year to write this review I purchase this product last summer here we are a year later I absolutely love it I use it quite often good price good quality taste greatI bought my wife one of the older soda stream models (a Jet I think) a long ways back. The bottles screwed in to the machine if that helps you know if you had the same one.Anyway, we really liked the machine, it did overflow when unscrewing the bottle occasionally, and the buzzer was super loud, and sometimes it was hard to get the bottle to screw in, but it was dependable. And we could get the water super carbonated which was a big plus. Well, the plastic button on the top of the unit finally snapped after 4-5 years of use so we needed to replace it and got this model. I read the reviews and they were mixed but the old one isn't made anymore so I figured we would give it a try.We had the thing for about 2-3 weeks and every time I used it, it would always overflow the bottle and I couldn't get good carbonation. I was getting really frustrated, but one day I just held down the carbonation button and everything worked great. I am mentioning this because the directions for using the old soda stream specifically told you to push the button multiple times (I don't know why), so I had been doing this with the new machine as well.Ever since we figured that out, the new machine has worked just fine. It doesn't carbonate the water quite as much as we could with the old model, but it is still good, and way better than spending a fortune on La Croix!Worked fine for awBout a month. Then the bottlel would not seal at the top. I bought a new set o 3 bottlel. None of them would seal. I contacted the sell and they said not yheir problem contact Soadastream so i did. I registered my product and filed a complaint. They ignored the complaint and requests for help. Now i have a useless machine and 4 bottels that arnt good for mich else.I would give this machine a zero and both the supplier the same.Dont expect any customer service for this product. It's ok if you don't mind having no instructions in English. There was an illustrated guide which helped but I had to download an instruction manual from a website to be sure.Apart from that I like it, it's easy to use and I will save on plastic but it won't persuade my partner to give up his diet coke!I wish I was kidding about the state I received this in... unacceptable.Took me a few attempts to get this right, but mastered now and use this daily, love it.Watched utube to see where I went wrongPlease note that despite having bought this when it was available two weeks ago under PRIME, I was unable to return the item which was a gift, and therefore unopened in any way. It does not state anywhere on the page that the item, when still sealed, can not be returned.NOT a good gift option unless you're certain it won't need to be returned.
