4 stars because St Croix makes the best rod in the industry. The Avid ice are awesome jigging rods. 30” ML is a perfect all-around stick for perch and walleye.Would’ve given 5 stars, but I ordered the 36” M and it was delivered broken. Returned it and Amazon shipped out a replacement that day. Which also arrived broken. So I’m very very mad. Do not buy from Webyshops or whatever their stupid name is, ever!!Pole feels “cheaper” made than my older st croix rods.. no place/fittings for a reel, overall St. Croix has gone down hill. Not happy, probably will return and switch brands. You used to get what you pay for with St. Croix.. apparently not anymore. Would not recommend to a friend.Great for ice fishing mixed species and sizes. It is quite stiff for most of its length with a rapid decrease in stiffness toward the tip. I can feel the bottom well with a light jig. I like the tape on reel seat for sensitivity and flexibility in positioning the reel without giving me a "handful of hardware" feeling.Beautiful rod!!! Great action for walleyes sets the hook right now!!The product I ordered was exactly what I wanted.........arrived in a very short time.Awesome rod for the price. I have a 30” and 27”. Great sensitivity with good back bone.Perfect, borderlines a medium heavy but perfect for Saginaw bay walleyes, I used the self bonding silicone electrical tape to tape the reel onSuper sensitive stick. Rigid enough for heavier jigs. Good backbone for that 10lb eye.
